Nikon vs Sigma 70-300 Lenses?

Hi, I’m buying a Nikon D90 that comes with 18-105. For the zoom lens I am debating whether to buy Nikon 70-300 VR or the Sigma 70-300 Macro with built in motor. The guy at the shop said that Sigma was better because it had an aluminum connector to the camera as apposed to plastic on Nikon, he also said that Sigma have crystal lenses not glass like Nikon. I don’t really need Macro but it would be nice to have the option, I care more about quality. Any ideas as to which goes better with the D90?

I would recommend you buying Nikon 70-300
